Tailored ERP Implementation Transforms Matmissionen's Donation-Based Retail

Social supermarket chain Matmissionen partnered with Azets to implement LS Central ERP and POS system. The Swedish organisation, which combats food poverty through donated goods, needed a specialised solution to manage their unique business model. The collaboration between Matmissionen and Azets has transformed daily operations: processes have been streamlined and critical workflows automated.
The partnership has enabled Matmissionen to achieve comprehensive visibility and control over their entire supply chain - from warehouse receipt to individual store purchases. The success of this collaboration stems from Azets' deep understanding of complex retail requirements, flexible approach to customisation, and comprehensive professional services.
"Azets really took to heart the special needs that we have in our business. We are not a standard store, and there's been a real willingness to listen and understand, then come with suggestions on how to adapt the LS retail system. They were flexible and eager to meet our requirements," Johan Rindevall, CEO, Matmissionen.

Tailored Solution for Unique Requirements

Matmissionen’s primary challenge was managing a supply chain based entirely on donations from grocery retailers and suppliers. They required an ERP solution capable of handling real-time inventory management, fair product distribution across stores, and customer purchase limitations to ensure equitable access.
"Given that we work solely with donations, we cannot really plan maybe one or two days ahead to what our inventory will be. So, we need special requirements and adjustments when it comes to special rules in the stores," Rindevall explains.

Integrated System Replaces Fragmented Processes

Before implementing LS Central, Matmissionen lacked centralised control over critical operations. Each store operated independently, using shared documents for basic coordination and pricing information. The warehouse, partnership management, and stores functioned as separate systems without integration.
The new LS Central implementation has created a unified platform combining point of sale, store operations, inventory management, reporting, and financial processes. When products arrive at the central warehouse, staff can quickly scan items to determine quantities, verify system presence, establish pricing, set customer purchase limits, and allocate stock across stores.
"We really need to handle it quickly and get it out to the stores, maybe the same day and get it sold the same day that we get the product. Now we finally have our partnership people connected to the warehouse and connected to the stores. Before, these were three different systems," Alexandra Matrai, COO, Matmissionen, notes.

Measurable Impact on Social Mission

The implementation has delivered significant operational improvements directly supporting Matmissionen's social mission. The system enables fair product distribution across both stores and individual customers, ensuring equitable access to donated goods.
Real-time inventory visibility allows for immediate decision-making on product allocation, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns. The integrated approach has eliminated the inefficiencies of managing separate systems while providing comprehensive reporting capabilities to demonstrate social and ecological sustainability impact to stakeholders.
"The biggest benefit we have seen is to divide the products more fairly between both stores and unique customers. Since we work with sustainability, be it social or ecological sustainability, we really look forward to providing those types of metrics to our customers," Rindevall concludes.

Professional Partnership Approach

Matmissionen selected Azets for their proven expertise in complex retail implementations and willingness to accommodate unique business requirements. Azets Professional Services provided comprehensive support including technical consultation, development, and project management throughout the implementation.
The collaboration extended beyond standard ERP deployment to include custom adaptations specifically designed for Matmissionen's social retail model. Azets' technical team demonstrated flexibility in modifying LS Central to support donation-based inventory, customer limitation rules, and real-time distribution requirements.
"We are really happy with the outcome where we are now, but we also have a clear vision of where we want to be in two or three years and Azets has helped us with that," Matrai reflects on the ongoing partnership.
